What are your plans for MEA Break? Head to Duluth after a day at the EdMN conference on Thursday and join MCTE and your fellow English Teachers to experience Shakespeare’s First Folio!

We’ve put together an afternoon and evening of learning and fun together with the University of Minnesota Duluth staff. The best part? It’s all FREE for MN Teachers!

If you’ve wanted to see this remarkable exhibit, there’s no better time! Be a part of a guided tour, a discussion with the director of the Folger Shakespeare Library, and see Shakespeare in motion, along with other events throughout town in conjunction with the First Folio.

For more information about Shakespeare’s First Folio, please visit UMD’s website.

The Day’s Schedule (Each event will be held on the UMD campus):

1:30 – 4:30 → Teachers’ Workshop, including Guided Tour of the First Folio Exhibit, “First Folio Teaches Teachers,” Burke Scarbrough (CEUs available for teachers) - Library Rotunda, 4th floor of the Kathryn A. Martin Library

4:30 – 5:20 → MCTE Welcome Reception with beverages and appetizers - Library Rotunda, 4th floor of the Kathryn A. Martin Library

5:30 → Jankofsky Lecture: Dr. Michael Witmore, Director of the Folger Shakespeare Library - Bohannon Hall: Room 90

With an afternoon and evening agenda, it will allow time to travel north on Friday morning so as not to interfere directly with the EdMN conference.

This is set to be a rich professional development opportunity for our Minnesota teachers, and we hope to see you there!

Additionally, there are other, non-MCTE sponsored events in Duluth connected with the First Folio if you are interested in extending your weekend in Duluth. Check out UMD's website for more information.
