MCTE Spring Conference ~ April 28-29, 2022

Building Bridges & Breaking Walls: Literacy for All

Holiday Inn & Suites | Duluth, MN
Registration opens at 8:00 AM

Keynote speakers include Timothy Lensmire, professor of Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities (White Folks: Race and Identity in Rural America); poet, organizer, and educator Tish Jones (Blues Vision: African American Writing from Minnesota); Deborah Appleman, professor of Educational Studies at Carleton College (Words No Bars Can Hold); and Hmong-American writer and poet, Kao Kalia Yang (The Song Poet, and Somewhere in the Unknown World along with a new children's book, From the Tops of the Trees, and many others).

There will also be 20+ Breakout Sessions over this 2-day event--including topics such as Shifts in Minnesota 2020 ELA Standards, Teaching Diverse Literature, Facing Book Challenges, Technology Integration for ELA, Teaching Multilingual Writers, and strands featuring Elementary, Middle Level, High School, and College level presentations on a variety of reading and literacy related topics. Come join in the fun!

Registration includes MCTE membership, continental breakfast, and lunch each day. WiFi will be available. CEUs will be provided at the end of the conference.

To avoid the late registration fee, please register by April 15. Full-time Student/Early Career and Board Member registrations will not be available after April 15.

MCTE and the Holiday Inn are committed to the safety of all participants and presenters. At conference check-in, all participants will be asked to furnish either proof of a completed vaccination series against COVID-19 or proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 48 hours of conference entry. MCTE is also requesting that participants mask during scheduled conference events, except when eating or drinking.

Shortly after the invoice, you will receive an email confirming your registration. If you are paying by school or personal check, this confirmation email will include instructions for mailing the check or bringing the check with you to the conference (after April 15).

If you pay online, you will receive an additional email confirming your payment.
